ector of The Choir of St George’s School\, Windsor - James Wilkinson\n\n
The Choirs will sing two anthems by Purcell:  O Sing unto the Lord\, and
Jehova quam multi sunt hostes mei\nGenerally considered England's most i
mportant early music composer\, Henry Purcell is renowned for his chambe
r opera Dido and Aeneas and dramatic pieces King Arthur and The Fairie Qu
een. The two anthems that we will perform are beautiful choral works base
 d on Psalms 96 and 3.\n\nThe Choir of St George's School\, Windsor\, will
perform a beautiful suite of short pieces by 20th/21st century British com
 posers:\nMichael Head - The little road to Bethlehem\nJohn Rutter - What s
weeter music\nErrollyn Wallen - Peace on earth\nBenjamin Britten - This li
ttle babe\nDavid Bednall - Make we merry\n\nAnd both choirs will come toge
ther for the striking Britten: St Nicolas\nSaint Nicolas was Britten's
first work for amateur musicians. It tells the story of the legendary life
of Saint Nicholas\, Bishop of Myra\, Lycia\, in a dramatic sequence of
events. His habit of secret gift-giving gave rise to the folklore of Sa
nta Claus ('Saint Nick').\n\n\nFor full event details\, visit: https://wc
